The History of Energy Capital Credit Union
Energy Capital Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization with four Houston-area branch locations, and more than 19,000 members.
We're one of the oldest credit unions in the country, forming the same year that credit unions were legally allowed to organize.

The Credit Union Difference
When you become a member of Energy Capital Credit Union, you own a share of the credit union. All members, regardless of their account balance, have an equal share in the credit union, and an equal vote in important annual meeting business items and for the Board of Directors.
- We don't over fee you! We try to keep all necessary fees as low as possible, just enough to cover our expenses or time.
- We pay you dividends instead of paying stockholders like other corporations do.
- Our Board of Directors are volunteers that are voted for by you. This ensures they make decisions to help both the credit union and member success, instead of filling their pockets.
- You are a member-owner, which means get to vote and have a say in how the credit union functions. You also can run as a nominee for the volunteer Board of Directors.
