Police and the U.S. Secret Service are now investigating a series of fraud incidents involving Chicago-area customers of the Michael's craft store chain, which appears to be another victim of POS (Point of Sale) device tampering. Read here about 3 tips to foil POS attacks.

The FBI has issued a warning about phishing emails allegedly showing photos and videos of Osama bin Laden's recent death. President Obama decided not to release the photos of bin Laden's corpse. The content of the messages could be malware that can spread the the recipient's contact list , thus sending the fraudulent email to everyone in the contact list. Please be aware that these messages are circulating and can cause damage to your computer if opened.

Please be aware of a scam that is taking place with fraudulent checks drawn on Energy Capital Credit Union. These checks are being passed to numerous banks across the country that indicate that we are the paying bank for an account entitled "Center Point Energy, Inc." Most of the recipients of these checks have had items for sale on Craigslist. The buyers of these items are then requesting the sellers to cash this check and remit the balance over the purchase price back to the sender of the check (the buyer) via MoneyGram.
